Your Bio

Sheila E. Griffie was born in Connecticut into a family filled with musical talent. As a youngster, Sheila took a different route. When she wasn't reading a book she could often be found with her first camera, a Kodak Brownie Hawkeye (Remember the big silver flash attachment?), taking pictures of family and friends.

Her first 35mm camera (a Mamiya/Sekor 528TL) was purchased in 1969 and then the real fun began. Most recently, Sheila has been shooting with her favorite camera, a NIKON D200. Photography is her passion - she is seldom without a camera.

Although Sheila has traveled extensively in the United States, Europe, Asia and Africa, taking pictures along the way, her favorite subjects are friends and family, especially her grandsons. Her brother, Kenny James, an award-winning artist and vocalist, continues to be her inspiration and biggest fan.

Ever the enthusiastic student, she frequently enrolls in workshops and classes to learn more about the technology and art of photography.

Sheila currently resides in the Pacific Northwest. She welcomes your comments at griffiegallery@gmail.com
